9 August 2008 -- Well, it was about that time again, for the yearly housecleaning/update. Unfortunately, at this point in time, my Rainbow Bridge kitty section has outgrown the Kitties Living With Me section. Since the last update I lost Midnight and Silver. I cleaned up the links in the AZ Shelters and Rescues section, pruned through the cross-stitching links, deleted the guestbook and changed the email address. 3 June 2007 -- Added a voting icon to the main page (Cats, Kitties, Gatos). Check it out and vote for us! Also briefly had an icon for the Whiskers and Tails topsite but the owner seems to be MIA. Her mailbox is full so until I hear that she's still around, I'll remove that icon for now. 31 May 2007 -- Shadow's page has been moved to the Rainbow Bridge section and a page has been started for Celine, who will join the family very soon. 27 May 2007 -- Boy, it's forever and a day between updates but sometimes when I update, I *update*. All cats now have bios! Woohoo!! I know .. it's about time. I still need to add more pictures but at least the stories are up. I also did some link checking and fixed a couple of broken links on the AZ Rescues and Shelters page. 1 July 2006 -- Checked to make sure links were working on the AZ Rescues and Shelters page and added a new one! Ditched the whole Webrings page - info was outdated, some of the rings no longer existed, and goodness only knows where I put the information such as password/ user ID. If I do webrings again, then I'll just start over fresh (and maybe, this time, remember where I put the important info!). I'm in the midst of updating the My Cats page. Unfortunately, I've had to add a whole Rainbow Bridge section. There's an update on Tribble's page but all other pages have been left as is (except for the webrings I took off Shadow and Silver's pages). 30 June 2006 -- Added pictures of some of my projects to the Cross Stitch page and fixed some links. Look, people! Two updates - in a row. 29 June 2006 -- Two of the games that were on the Game Page were apparently no longer hosted on the site they came from so ... two new games! Check 'em out. Also changed the font to make it easier to read - I'll be doing that throughout the site. 27 November 2005 -- Fixed some links on the Cross Stitch page and deleted the Cat Rubber Stamp section. What? Delete it? Why? Well, since my divorce, I just haven't had either the time or the inclination to stamp. I'm strapped for time as is (witness the loooonnngggg times between updates!) and just can't update the section like it should be. Don't you just hate finding a page full of juicy links, only to find half of them don't work? So I decided to take down the rubber stamp section. 27 November 2004 -- I've updated Tribble's page - you can access it through the My Cats link. Sometime between June and today, I also added a couple of webrings. On Shadow's page is the link to the Black Cat's webring and on Silver's page is the link to the Groovy Gray Kitties webring. 15 June 2004 -- I've been threatening to do it for ages and now I've finally started! Each cat has their own page that you can access from the My Cats section. Only Silver and Shadow have completed pages at the moment but there is at least a picture of each cat on their page. Stories will follow. I also made my own 404 page. It's nothing special and kind of a geeky thing to get excited about but I think it's kind of neat. If you want to check that out, the 404 page is here. 2 May 2004 -- Hey, she does occasionally update the site! Well, I didn't do much more than a little bit of housekeeping. I checked for dead links on the rubber stamp, cross stitch and shelter pages and added a new link to the stamps page. One big thing that's been keeping me from updating the site on any kind of regular basis is the fact that I've been in school since last September. I'm almost finished with my program and plan on taking some time off between finishing up and going on a job hunt. I have lots of plans and ideas - maybe I can get some of them actually out of my head and worked out on the site! By the way - for everyone who has written to me about Mau, thank you so much. Your messages really mean a lot to me! 7 November 2003 -- Well, I impressed myself! I was worried that, if I put up a Halloween front page I wouldn't get around to taking it down til around Valentine's Day! I'm working on a fall-themed one - we'll see if I can get that up before Christmas. (laugh) I also fixed one of the voting icons that was showing as a broken link. Oooh, and updated the "What's New?" page. I'm on a roll, I'm telling you! 11 October 2003 -- I said on my main page that there is a lot that has been going on and boy, I wasn't kidding. I lost my mother early last year and then about 7 months later my marriage ended. I am now divorced and we split the cats. We didn't intentionally split them 5 and 5 but that's just how things worked out. Some of the cats were ours, some were his, some were mine. My mother's two cats ended up staying with him. Bandit would live with anyone but Critter became very attached to my ex - I suppose there's no accounting for taste. Rental, though, is very happy that Critter isn't living with us anymore! My oldest cat, Mau, was diagnosed earlier in the year with an intestinal cancer and in September I had to put him to sleep. We have a new kitten living in the household, Sienna. One of these days, I'll get a page up for her. This past summer I went back to school. I'd been out for about 15 years so this was quite a new thing to adjust to. I am taking the prerequisites I need in order to apply for the radiography program at the local community college. By December I should have all of them done and be able to apply. After that, I'll be on a waiting list which is about 2 years long. Since I need to work and support all these cats in the meantime, I am also, while taking my prereqs, attending Pima Medical Institute. I'm enrolled in their Medical Assistant program. I'll be done with that in May of next year. So, seeing all that's been going on in my life, I hope you all will forgive the lack of updates! I did put up a Halloween intro page and hopefully it won't still be there at Christmas. LOL I'll do more updates as I can squeeze them in between schoolwork. 11 March 2003 -- Well, it's been some time since I've updated the What's New page, hasn't it? I have been updating -- I just keep forgetting to update this page! I've added a whole slew of links to rescues and shelters. The list looks pretty long but I'm sure that for every one I've listed, there are probably some more that either don't have a web presence or that aren't "official" - just a few people (or sometimes even just one!) doing what they can to combat our horrendous homeless pet problem. I've added a photo page link - it goes off site to Yahoo so when you click on it, you might want to choose to open it in a new window so that you don't get "lost" and can find your way back here. Look for that at the top of the home page in the Newsflash section. I'm working on an onsite photo page but I have some personal things taking up my time at the moment, so it'll most likely be a while before that is ready to be published. I was also awarded the Keeper of the Stars award from Diabella Loves Cats. Thanks so much! 14 June 2002 -- I've added some online games to my site. Go check out The Game Page! I just love simple games -- they seem to be the most addictive. I have 4 games for now and I may add some more in the future. Just an FYI -- 3 out of the 4 require Shockwave. Have fun! I also added a .jpg of one of my cross-stitch projects that I actually completed (unfortunately I start way more than I finish!). Go to the Cross Stitch page to see it. 1 June 2002 -- Well, despite my best intentions to do regular updates, I seem instead to go in fits and spurts. There's been a lot going on in my life that has precluded me from working on my page as much as I want to. Check out My Cats to read about my two newest cats. Yes, I'm now up to 10 felines, although I wish I hadn't acquired the 2 new ones the way I did. I've been doing some tidying up. I recently got a new flat-screen monitor and the color scheme that I thought looked nice on the old style monitor looked absolutely hideous on the flat-screen. Hopefully, the new text, link and visited link colors will be easier to read. I've moved the Webrings to their own page. I've lost some of them, but plan on joining some new ones. I thought it would be better if the index page could load as quickly as possible and it just wasn't doing that with all the webring graphics on it. I've also deleted Mau and Chester's personal pages. I think for now I'm going to stick with the short bios that are there and then I'll be working on a photo page of some sort. 19 April 2001 -- It's been a lot longer between updates than I expected! I had an accident on March 6; the short story: I stepped off the top step of a step ladder and tore ligaments in my right knee. As fate would have it, a cat was involved. My volunteer work consists of going to our shelter's adoption center and cleaning up after (and playing with!) the cats. I had finished my shift and had one cat left to put away. She had been acting funny for a few weeks; she was very aggressive. All you had to do was to look at her out of the corner of your eye and she would start hissing, swatting, growling. Some cats get like that because they DO NOT want to be put back in their cages. I can totally sympathize with them. Anyway, this particular cat had climbed to the top of the 6-foot-tall supply cabinet and made herself comfortable. I climbed up and waited for her to thoroughly fall asleep before I scruffed her. The minute I touched her she went ballistic and all I could think of was, "Get her in her cage QUICK!" and I totally forgot I was 3 steps up. The cat went flying one way, I went down hard and my knee crunched. Oh, the PAIN!!! The cat was fine; I ended up having to be transported via ambulance to the emergency room. I'm still in a knee brace and probably won't go back to my normal volunteer duties till later this year. The cat, by the way, is just fine. She landed a lot better than I did! So, that's the story of why it's been so long since I've posted a new update! I did make pages for the two oldest cats, Mau and Chester. I intend to have pages for all the cats eventually. I've also made an Awards page, due to the fact that, after having this website up in one form or another since 1996, I was honored with my first ever award on April 1. On April 19 (today!) I applied for and was given a second award. One other thing that I've done is to sign up with 2 different Top 50 sites. I'm trying to find ways to increase traffic (although maybe it's more than I think it is; Tripod insists I've had 17 page views today while the NedStat Tracker claims only 6) and thought that I would try these out. The buttons are at the bottom of the webrings on the index page (and the webrings may be getting their own page soon, so that the index page loads faster) and if you would click on one or the other (or both!) that would be really great. :) 25 February 2001 -- I've added 2 new pages, Cat Rubber Stamps and Cross Stitch, a listing of places where you can find charts for cross stitched cats. Some of them are even free! I love rubber stamping, cross stitching and cats, so I thought it would be natural to combine my favorite things and offer a sampling of companies that have cat rubber stamps and places that offer the cat cross stitch charts. This isn't meant to be comprehensive by any means, and as I find more companies and sites, I'll add them to the list. If you know of a company or site that you think should be added to the list, let me know! I'm also trying out a new text color that I think will be easier to read against the paw background. 15 January 2001 -- I've been trying to make sure that the text, link and visited link colors are the same on each page. I'm not entirely happy with the text color because I still think it's hard to see against the patterned background. I'm going to still work on it, though. If you do have trouble reading the text, you can always get rid of the background by setting your Windows settings to choose your colors (you get to pick text and background colors) instead of what's specified by the web page. I've also added the webring graphics back to the index page. I can't believe that I forgot to plug them in when I redid everything! Duh! 11 January 2001 -- It's been quite some time since I closed down my website for renovations. I really intended to have it back up and running long before now, but you know what they say: the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Life in general kept me busy and I also overwhelmed myself with trying to revamp the entire page and get it back online all at once. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was the original page, so I've decided to put it back online in small chunks. I have four sections to start with: the home page, a page about my cats, a listing of rescues and shelters in Arizona, and this "What's New?" page. I've also decided to utilize some of the goodies that Tripod offers: the Pass-It-On link and the Cat Sayings. These sayings are actually from my old OLX tagline file from back in the days before I (and everyone else and his brother) got on the Internet when I actually called up individual BBSs using QMPro. Ah, those were the days! |
